The hug
« on: April 15, 2016, 17:46:54 »
This was taken about 17 or 18 years ago at the St. Jacob's Farmer's Market in St .Jacob's Ontario. I was walking through the open air part of the market when I noticed a young girl obviously very upset, and involved in an animated discussion with her mother. I watched the interaction between the two and when the mother took the girl to her breast and hugged her, I had the shot I wanted.
motorized Nikon FE-2
Nikkor 105 2.5 AI manual focus
Fuji 100 ISO colour slide
probably 2.8 @ 1/500th

I shoot with film. That's film. F...i...l...m. You remember film. It was in all the papers.

Intense. Would not dare to shoot such intimacy though. Maybe I should? Thank you for sharing.
You are out there. You and your camera. You can shoot or not shoot as you please. Discover the world, Your world. Show it to us. Or we might never see it.

Thanks all for the kind comments.
Frank,
If we only take the safe shots, our candid work would be far less interesting.
I think you should push the envelope and dare.

I like it a lot, not only because of the framing you did choose but especially because of the hand on the girl's back to comfort her.
The contrast between the red coat and light-colored t-shirt and the red hair makes it even more special.
A wonderful, tender moment.

Thanks Peter.
Because I was walking between rows of produce, I couldn't easily move toward or away from the two people to compose, and in the end, because there was no time to change lenses, grabbed this using the 105 which was on the camera at the time, from the position I was in.
So this is exactly as it came out of the camera, which is to say uncropped.
