Thank you for this guide. I have a 50/1.4 AIS that's been quick cleaned twice by a friend twice and is in need of a complete strip and relube. I think someone baked the lens in the trunk of a car and destroyed the original grease.

You may want to check the type of grease used. it has a tendency to gunk-up so it might not be suited for lens helicoids.  :o :o :o
some shops here cut corners and use grease that is meant for other stuff that is unsuitable for lenses.

some grease types that I know that works for lenses are red bike grease and the one used for fishing reels. ::) some of the shops use these but the best one is what Nikon itself uses - NPC grease (nippon petrochem).
