The best of spring is over....
« on: April 07, 2016, 14:59:38 »
....with the cherry blossoms now past their peak here in Tokyo after a brief burst of warm, sunny weather. Cold, rainy and windy conditions prevail at the moment.

I managed to grab a few shots in Shinjuku Gyoen (park), yesterday before these conditions set in. The trees had already started to shed their flowers.

The last shot was taken with the weird Russian Jupiter 3 lens on a Fujifilm X-T1.

The cherries in Bonn will soon blossom. Then all Asia will stand packed here no car will be able to move for a week.

Wonderful shots.

Nice Mike.  What a fine colours from that Jupiter (with a bit bumpy bokeh).  Same processing as the rest, I presume?

Thanks everyone for your comments. Today, the cherry trees near us are sadly depleted, and the streets here will soon return to normal.

Nice Mike.  What a fine colours from that Jupiter (with a bit bumpy bokeh).  Same processing as the rest, I presume?

Thanks, John. The lens is tricky to focus with an EVF, and tends to overexpose to some extent. So, the processing usually involves correcting for exposure and highlights, then boosting the contrast a little more than usual. Not your every day lens, but fun to use. I will try it on a Nikon J5 as soon as I receive the chip for the adapter that I have ordered.

Mike.

The second one stands out to me.  I love cherry blossom starting to fall.

Wonderful ... Walking amongst the trees just makes you happy to be there at that moment.

Needless to say how wonderful these photos are Mike. I especially like the people shot. They look so happy, must be the effect of cherry blossom.  :)

Thanks for your comment, Anirban. You are right - cherry blossom time is a very festive time here. There are websites to track the progress of the cherry blossoms across Japan.
