A story of 2 Silver Arrows
« on: March 31, 2016, 18:31:53 »
At the recent Goodwood Member Meeting, a race was organized between the race car giants of the past: the Silver Arrow W196 Monoposto and the W196 Streamliner. BTW: the latter had always been used for testing, not actual races.  Driving these cars with over 650hp requires great skill. Mika Haikinnen drove The Monoposto while Jochen Mass drove the Streamliner.

The story behind the name “Silver Arrow” is that just before a race in 1934, the painted was scratched of the car to get its weight to 750kg. These cars dominated racing until the mid fifties.

An impression:

Lots of attention for the drivers, using all generations of capturing devices and tools

A lucky Man who could record the entire race

Two racing giants of the past: Jochen Mass and Allen Markelson

Nice vintage look of your images to match the cars. Love those old cars.
