Flat cars, Plato´s Cave

Excellent 👍🏻 I wish it was one of my pictures.

Nice job getting the motion blur just right! I usually use a neutral density filter, but I believe the next time I try it, I’ll go with f/20 and see what happens.

Thank you Arthur 😊 You will probably experience that diffraction becomes a minor problem when you try to catch a subject, evolving at 200 km/h  ;)

This plane was built as a sort of a joke.
The builder and his dad makes and sells these kits, and wanted to show that it would fly, no matter how badly you built it.

So they built it to fly backwards...

Peter, your colourful shot is the most unusual image I have ever seen of the most popular APS Tomboy design.  I have never heard of one being setup to fly backwards, but yes the wing is on backwards and likewise the tail.  Clear tip plates have been added - Mmmmm.  A fair bit of weight has been added for balance I see.

It was designed about 55 years ago by the late Vic Smeed in the UK who designed dozens of model aircraft and almost as many model boats.

The design is one that is very easy to get to fly and it is often one of the first built by those starting out in aeromodelling and it is still popular today.

Why don't you submit this image to the UK "Aeromodeller" magazine under the caption of "The most Unusual Tomboy"?

The Tomboy is  a design still flown in SCRAMBLE competions.  The engine is usually a 0.75cc diesel, although many now have electric propulsion.

(Confessions of a lapsed aeromodeller and yes, I am well and truly off topic, but it is funny what an image can do to a person.)

Thank you Hugh

This was built by Chris Freeman's son Byron. They make and sell the Tomboy kits here in South Africa. This particular version is, somewhat predictably, called the Yobmot.

As you can probably see, it is electric rather than diesel and the one really tricky bit is that it can't take off of a runway, and has to be hand-launched. I got the impression that it is quite tricky to fly, but it was a pretty windy day...

I will leave it to Chris to submit the image as he is a somewhat regular contributor to several UK modelling magazines.

It seems quite some planes of late. Let's try some inner city train/tram.
