C-PL1S - Where To Find One?

Just purchased a 600/5.6 ED-IF AIS (newest version) and now find myself looking for a C-PL1S.
Any idea where my best chance of finding one would be?

I've done a quick scouring of my usual used MF Nikkor shops around the world w/o any success - though there is a shop in Italy that claims to have one, but I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Not certain I have more than one of them, can look when I return to Oslo later ....

Thanks Bjorn - I was also thinking of picking up a 500/4P, which as you point out also uses it.

There seems to have been a few for sale around the world in the last month, but alas my timing is not the greatest it seems.

I shoot a lot of long distance landscape shots and I use a CPL quite a bit, unless I just can't give up the light.

Well, as would happen, I just found one on ebay that did not show up on their search results when I use "C-PL1S" for the search term.
However when I used "39mm drop-in polarizer" as the search term up it pops, even though C-PL1S is in the title of the listing . . .
Internet searching is more of an art than science for sure.

$215 + a hefty $40 shipping, but it's the only one I've found, so I'm good Bjorn - thanks!

If memory serves, the C-PL1S also works with the old AF 300/4, the first one of them with screw driver AF.

Here's a related question - have any of you replaced the glass in one of the Nikon drop-in CPLs with, say a more modern coated CPL like a B+W with MRC, etc.?

I know these teles are designed with this clear or CPL glass in the optical path, but one would think that you might gain some image clarity when using a CPL by using the latest and greatest filter material and coatings.

Yes, the C-PL1S was used for the AF 300/4 and all AI, AI-S and AI-P super-telephotos except the 400/2.8, 800/5.6 and 1200-1700/5.6-8 which use the C-PL1L.

Thanks, but I found one disguised on ebay and it's on its way.  I also have a lead on one from a shop in Italy.  Do I want/need two? . . . .

Back to this now that I've found one or two of these - anyone dare replace the glass of the polarizer with something technically better?

The glass and polfilm has a fixed thickness and the filter-holder itself is designed for that,,, Take it apart and have a look,,, if you find a modern filter in the same diameter and thickness, just swap them,,,

Well, I got myself one (all the way from Germany) and the glass is 0.115" (3mm) thick.  I've also found out that the coating is incredibly easy to scratch - that unto itself is a reason to swap it out for something modern.  Scratch resistance and better anti-reflective coatings.

Supposedly I have another coming from Italy - we'll see in what kind of shape this one is in.

So the issue is finding a CPL that is 3mm thick AND the right diameter of the glass.  Also one needs to be able to get the existing CPL glass out of the holder and it's held in by a snap ring that will require some very thin pointed tools remove.

Anyone done this before?
