potato sprouts.
« on: March 15, 2016, 12:38:51 »
I took this shot because I like the colors... ;)

I use to put potato plants at light to get healthy sprouts before planting end of march. I have to wait 110 days before harvesting the first new potatoes.

Great Shot
I will never look at potatoes the old way again.

Potatoes are hardy and tough, they can grow in the northernmost part of Norway. It may be cold summers, but remember we have sunlight even at night, that helps the growth.  We grow enough to supply us the whole year.

I agree, lovely and beautiful.  Potatoes are indigenous to Peru and Bolivia where they are grown even above 10,000'. I have red and yellow potatoes growing "wild" in the back, sprouting from stock that has been stored a bit too long.

Ah yes, of course. I forgot that ! :)

By the way, just watched BBC' broadcast, I probably could as I am in England : very interesting about Norway history. I enjoyed it and I recognized some pictures you posted here ;)

You could perhaps plant them, Gary.

California may be too hot to grow potatoes, or too dry ?

Thanks for your comments. :D

Nice colors and applause for making the ordinary look unordinary and otherworldly.

That is what I meant to say. When the potatoes get old I plant them. I have red and yellow (Yukon) potatoes growing wild in the yard.
