A tribute to Skagsanden beach I
« on: March 14, 2016, 11:47:00 »
Inspired by Knut S and his beautiful photos, I thought I should post some of my takes from that famous beach in Lofoten.
The beach faces nortwest, to the Arctic Sea, and the light and weather changes constantly.
Someone said that if you don't like the weather in Lofoten, just wait 15 minutes and you will have a new weather.

Lovely, Bjørn, these bring back good memories (although none of my photos could begin to compare).

Thanks Anthony. I have been twice in Lofoten this February, first a few days on my own, then 8 days as a guide for a group of Chinese photographers (some of them really good). Great fun, and I am still not tired of visiting Lofoten.
The light and landscape in Lofoten has always attracted painters and other artists, and it has also been popular for photography. The new trend is winter tourism, a few years ago there were almost no tourists in Lofoten, but now you have to stand in queue some places to get your photo. Even Luminous Landscape Travel Agency (Michael Reichmann) is arranging a 7-days workshop there next winter. (Their price is USD 6490.-, I could arrange it for half that price :) )

related to weather I like no4 most, but regarding your comment  in the first section, I assume they were all taken in a short period?

Thanks Thomas. Two of the photos are from 2009, three from two days in 2016.

Lovely images, Bjørn, and so nice to be instantly transported back to Lofoten.

On the NG get-together 5(?) years ago, that beach was the first place we went in an organised way, and where Bjørn R. made a sudden appearance. I'd love to go back there.

What a brilliant idea, Bjørn. Skagsanden is really a special place. I think it is a combination of direction of the beach itself and distance to the surrounding mountains. Good place for nice clouds. Your pictures is, as always, beautiful and with your special touch. Very inspirational.  :)

Yes - a bunch of mad photographers loose in the unsuspecting Norwegian countryside - but no, this was the first evening and almost everyone had arrived except nfoto, and we all went to Skagsanden together. I think it may have been the only time the whole group did something together; after this we tended to work in groups with a common interest, scattered around the archipelago.  Disorganized? Never!   8) 8)

First and fourth for me. I've never been there but have been more than interested by the images posted from this cold place. The light seems fantastic and designed for astute photographers. Very nice captures, Bjorn!
