My F3HP doesn't seem to agree with the S/N list v. the MFG code. (decode)

S/N 1724151
MFG code 77VM

I see no sign of tampering or other work.... That's not to say a competent camera tech couldn't have replaced the top apron. But, I sure can't see any signs of it.

Hi Mike,

Yes, a serial # from around June 1985 and a body manufacturing date of July 1987.
This is not unusual to see.
It may well have happened in the factory. Perhaps the top plate was pulled from old-stock and used to complete the full assembly.
The other option of course is that someone has had the body open at some stage and replaced the top plate with another one.

Yes, you are correct , Nov 1984.
The letter 'O' represents the 'P' models and the number '2' means that the body has had at least two design changes since the start of production.
