Mike, this is truly spectacular!!!  I love the "chromatic aberration" seen at the edge of the cloud which makes its name so fitting!

Thanks, Jakov. It was impressive - it seemed that we were right under it. I believe that it was formed by the nearby Cerro Paine Grande (about 2,900 metres).

Thanks, Akira. I imagine that this was formed by ice particles. Your cloud images have inspired me to look skywards more often!

Were these clouds from the Japan Alps, carried over Tokyo by the prevailing westerly winds?

Glad you like it, Mike.  I think the clouds were formed by the wet wind coming from the Tokyo bay.
