Very red sunset

(testing Zf & Nikkor 400mm f/4.5Z)
So interesting. As if some wildfire in the background. Beautiful!

Very nice.  The lighthouse and breakwater nicely balance this one.

The sky looked magnificent … until the storm broke on us.

We were in a small boat, with camera gear strewn around its floor.
A mad scramble ensued to get it all up and stowed before there was over an inch of water swilling around where the gear had been.
We all got soaked but our gear survived!

The scene looks unreal, like a creation with purpose to express tension and dramatic set up. Well, of course that's were you come in... ;)
Love and agree with every choice of timing, framing and processing.

 Thanks for sharing it!

Some lovely clouds and skies from Keith, Anirban, Chip, Paco and Ann
(and that's just on this page)

Ann, part of me wants your scene to have been in Costa Rica, but I know you've travelled a bit elsewhere too

Ann, a splendid photo and story.  Glad that you and the equipment all survived!

Thank you all for your very kind comments.

Colin asked if this was in Costa Rica but it was on the other side of the world in Malayan Borneo on the Kinebatangan river. The local law is that only a registered Guide can take passengers on the river.

There is very small privately owned B&B on the river and they have their own out-board motor-driven boat and employ a registered guide so six of us could take the boat out all day from sunrise until after sunset. Because it is such a small boat, we could explore the little backwaters too and photograph the creatures who make their homes there.

Impressive passionate red color!  I guess such saturated red in the sky would be observed only in the regions in high latitude or those with very humid atmosphere where the shorter wavelengths are strongly diffused.  I've never seen such red skies in Japan.
