Concrete
« on: June 20, 2015, 05:39:55 »
I started a series of portraits, people were asked to think of an emotion(not tell me which emotion was chosen) immerse their faces in a bowl of water ... and then without wiping the water from their eyes portray that emotion, using just their eyes....why?...When you have Parkinson's one of the things that happens is loss of expression ....all you have is your eyes...the use of the water was to take a little control away from the subject, try emoting with a face full of water it is harder than you think....Anyway here are a few from the series

Intense and disturbing artwork. Your non obvious way of thinking might introduce us to part of your world. Applause.
You are out there. You and your camera. You can shoot or not shoot as you please. Discover the world, Your world. Show it to us. Or we might never see it.

Excellent approach and very co-operative models might I add.

We all know this is how specimens of the human race really look. We sample this every day by looking into our mirror. But by seeing people dehumanised and retouched to an impossible perfection in magazines and ads, we tend to forget such a basic fact even to the extent of believing we ourselves can achieve such a state of perfection.

i am not shure if it is sadness or desparation what they express, but it goes under the skin
you and your models have brought a far away situation directly into my place

This work is brilliant, it woke up some emotions in me. Stripped from all the plastic we hide behind to pretend.

I would love to see this in B&W as well......

Powerful images.  §1 and §3 benefit from the natural water flow looking like tears.

The unique technique is an encouragement to us to new ways of thinking and seeing.

Fun idea :) And they look great!

I would work on the crop especially if they appear together and also a more square ratio, The thing is that we quite easily see that some are more scaled than others. Disturbs my eye :)

On a side note I have done the opposite, hidden the eyes... was quite disturbing for some people :)

I left them cropped as this to allow the framer space/bleed to make it easier, I went for a rectangle crop
