Carmen Amaya was born on November 13th 1913. I have been in charge of the visual material and today I have learnt that one of the images is used for the front cover of the magazine "Artes Escénicas".

I was born in Torino, Italy.

Torino is reputedly one of the vertexes of two triangles connecting six cities, one for black magic and the other for white magic (for those who believe it...)

Anyhow, people in this area are sometimes very superstitious.

Many hotels don't have room 13 and room 17 which are considered as bad luck numbers. They will have room 12-bis and room 16-bis instead...

Unlucky number 17 is a very local Italian superstition; in other cultures, for example in the jewish kabbalah 17 is a lucky number. But then Noah's flood reputedly started on the 17th of the 2nd month... which balances out the lucky part of #17.
