I'm Al from Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA. I'm a retired Civil Engineer and, now, full time photographer :)  I started with Nikon in 1967; currently shoot with a D800 (with a D600 as a spare).  Been following Bjørn Rørslett and his lens reviews for years. My work shows at www.albenasphotography.com  I'm excited about this new board.

Hi Al,

Welcome to NikonGear.
You have some beautiful B&W images on your website, I look forward to seeing new ones here.
Please do remember to put your name in your signature or somewhere else visible, in this community we like calling each other by our true names, rather than aliases.
Bjørn and Co think that it makes the interaction more direct and pleasant, and I agree.

I really love the two staircase / marble shots in "museums, architecture etc." There I see your great sense for geometry and tones. Thank you! What distracts me is the signature in shape and size.
You are out there. You and your camera. You can shoot or not shoot as you please. Discover the world, Your world. Show it to us. Or we might never see it.

Simone - Thanks for looking at my work. Just found the signature box in the "Profile" dialog. I agree with you about real names.

Frank - I'm glad that you like that photo. It's gone, now. The museum did a major remodeling and closed off the through opening at the foot of the two stairs; I wasn't happy.
Were you concerned about the logo signature (sorry, I am committed to that) or the copyright signature at the bottom of each photo (I was so happy to get it built and set up on the web site that I'm scared to try and make it smaller - which it needs to be).

Welcome! Indeed Bjørns 'old' lens reviews and scribbling's is the reason for many of us being here on the site in the first place ;)
