A picnic lunch in winter forest

We decided to pack a little bit of picnic lunch (LOL microwave popcorn, hot chocolate and some cookies) and make a nice hike in the winter forest. My wife and I like the outdoors but more importantly my 6 yo daughter absolutely loves it. Hiking, biking, skiing, skating, roller skating, running... you name it.
All pictures shot with a D3X and 24/1.4. Note how low the sun already is at this latitude. We started out at 1 PM and returned 3:30 PM.

Beautiful photos Peter. Thanks for sharing. I like all of them and especially #4 and #5. In #5, I'm surprised how nicely snow white color on the ground has come out; even though sun was in front of you that low. Did you use flash?
