Greetings from LA!

Hello Forum!

My name is Jeremy and I have a Nikkor problem. I recently purchased an old gear case and found a Nikon F Photomic and 50mm f2 Nippon Kogaku waiting for me inside. I thought I'd test it out, sell it and be on my way but when I got the images back... Those images!  I'd forgotten how great film is.  Well, it's three months later now and that little experiment has turned into a collection of twelve vintage lenses and a bad ebay habit. I'm like Golem with his ring. I troll auctions and yard sales, I covet and polish my little nikkors like they're Faberge eggs. My only company is the Angry Photographer. It's bad. I have lenses delivered to the office and sneak them past my wife in my bag as I come home. They all look like the same knurled black tubes to her so as long as I don't have them all out at once, I'm okay. Forum, I ask you, what is this path of madness I've started down? Am I alone?

You are not alone.

The only cure is pick up the courage to tell her about your addiction. Do show the images first, though.

Definitely not alone. Be warned: this site will only drive you further on the old Nikkor path :)

Hello Jeremy, great introduction story and welcome to NG.

Just tell the wife that lenses are like shoes to her, with a closet full of hem there's always a few more out there that you just have to buy ;D
Cheers,
Jan Anne

NG is a place of many photographers like you obviously are. What pictures. Wow.

We also have gear heads and collectors. Some of them great photographers too.

I am an exception. My rule is the I sell gear after not having used it for 7 months.

Keeps me in discipline and my accounts in the black.

My wife? She has a habit with cosmetics that is more expensive and I make money with my photos.

Welcome again. Keep posting.

Frank

Welcome to the forum Jeremy. I also have been getting back into film, but MF. Are you shooting/developing B&W? I've been thinking/looking for a nice affordable 'F' for awhile ... Just to put on the shelf (like the Elf). If you find one, I'll take it off your hands. Tell us of your journey/quest for the ultimate Nikon film system.
