I guess it's going up.  If it's going down, the staircase should lead to the hell.    8)

Icarus made a fatal mistake by flying way too high.   ;)

Wow, so much to say about this picture  ;D

The end of the set of stairs would tell you whether it's up or down. This is in the library in Maastricht.

Werner, beautiful use of the fisheye! It has impact, makes the stairs organic and creates disorientation.
