I try to be a serious amateur. Shooting events, family, granddaughter, and each winter I make a trip to Florida to shoot birds.
My screen name: He's well known as the "best big-game shooter in the Eastern empire" and I thought it fitting for a photo-shooter of wildlife.
Have been with Nikon forever, well, back to first cameras of my own in 1970. Still have the film gear, but 99% of my shooting is digital. D300 has been my workhorse, trying a D600. 24MPx is a real step up from 12. I don't carry the big pro gear, my favorite wildlife package has been D300 and 300 f/4, the first 1988 AF lens. I shoot loose and crop. It will be time to upgrade soon (Dec 2015)
Bjørn, your lens comments have been very, very helpful to me over the years. Thank you!
