A small handful of shots I've taken recently at local shows.  All taken with D750 and 50mm 1.2 ai-s.

Sharp images with a MF from the stage? Cooool!
I would not be able to maintain focus.

The first two are killer shots for me. The raw intensity you caught there is great.

cheers

that sort of music is not Mongo's thng but there is no disputing the amazing quality of some of these images ; particularly the first two. Intensity, sweat and coloured noise .

+1. The whole qualifies as a very good series, despite the mix of BW and color which I did not even notice at first, because I was fascinated by the subject.

I like all of them, as shared above. The intensity, the raw-ness, all top notch.

However, i really, really like the bg figure in the 1st, almost like a robot of sorts. Seems to fit this music style. Perhaps you should only shoot out of focus shots to get similar results  :)

Thanks, these were taken before I installed the S type screen so focus was hit or miss.  Mostly miss haha.  Thankfully there's Ch to help out.  The reason for the mix of color and b/w is stage lighting.  Sometimes it looks cool, sometimes it blows stuff out in a very unflattering manner.  And other times the colors just make the shot look bad.  In the second shot, red and green lights illuminated the background giving the musician a christmas styled halo, which didn't fit the mood haha.

As for the music, I can't think of a genre less robotic live.  Only aggressive music has so much motion, intensity and raw emotion flowing near constantly. :-)  Even when I don't care for the bands, they are very fun to shoot.

Well captured the raw aggressiveness there! (At least that was mine first reaction to your pics before I saw what others said.)
