Feeling good in Brussels

It's always nice to visit the centre of Europe.
Especially when you have a nice view :)

On my way to Brussels. If you need tips on where I was, do let me know.

It's funny how you see things from a window of a train sat at a train station.

Hi Jakov

The framing, the tones, everything is right in the third picture.

Good morn' mister Jakov Minic ! :)

I like the perspective of the image #1. The shade at the bottom left is a little disturbing, though. Was this picture also taken from a train's window ?

And I share Olivier's comment about the #3 ; everything perfect...

Well, just a full continental breackfast is missing on the table... :P ;D

Nice 'overview', Jakov.  You probably passed 'Antwerpen', seeing your first picture  ;)

Are you stuffed in an Hotel at the airport?

Olivier, you, as the master of framing, are telling me that you like my framing, well, me very happy  ;D

Thanks!

Good evening Mr Francis Devrainne :)

My mentor taught me once when I was cropping an image of its imperfections that I shouldn't do it.
Ever since I have a tendency of leaving them purposely on occasion. I feel it works in this instance because it is so prominent, if it was just a pixel or two, I would have cropped it out... The other thing is that it was crucial to taking the photo as the 17-35/2.8 was resting on this rail of the balcony not through the window of the rail-road train :)

As a civil servant I tend to save money of tax payers and skip continental, michelin, pirelli or any other breakfasts :)

Thanks!

John, I read your messages several times and I still cannot figure out what you meant :)
I must have had a long day...

I did pass Antwerpen, from The Hague to Brussels. The first picture is the night shot of Brussels, you probably meant the second photo of Mechelen...

I am not in a hotel close to the airport, but in a very nice apartment close to the EU institutions.

Thanks!  ;)

Jakov, I am the one who is responsible for the confusion (I meant number 2)...

Have fun there :)

I like the play with the layers withing the image, each one framing the next, from the curtains to the building. Nice, nice, nice. Subtle light and color rounding up the ambiance.

The third photograph is excellent.  The composition is great and the framing of the windows with the flowing drapes is just about perfect.  Great stuff.

The third image was made seconds after I woke up. I just saw the view from my bed, picked up the camera and clicked. Sometimes you just see things and you want to record them. It is also a way of sharing your happiness with others. If you can't share it's pointless (at least to me).

(there is a joke about a shipwreck and a guy stranded on a desert island with no other than Sharon Stone. he was an ordinary guy, not particularly good looking, but of course after months or years she gave in to natural needs. then the guy asked her to dress up like a man and put even a fake mustache. she was confused, but she did it nevertheless, and then he said to her dressed up as a man: "you know, i f... Sharon Stone!")

Thank you Rick!
It is such an amazing feeling when photographers who you respect so much write nice words about your image :)

@ Jakov: so you want to tell us that you get your best frames, when you are travelling alone, sleep in a subcultural shrill environemnt, stop dreaming of Elsa and start your engines?
I like the result
