Thanks Akira and Erik.
Here is a more convential capture when it got higher in the sky. A lot less heat waves even through the light clouds that asked for some good contrast enhancement in pp.

Well, to me, the first and the last ones are far better.  The close up of the moon makes no difference whether it is the supermoon or the usual full moon.    :o :o :o

Thanks Akira, I tend to agree, although it is hard to stop making more techical images too.  :D  The flat light on the moon allows some work on the contrast that otherwise is difficult.

The moon kept trying to move away from the clouds, but eventually they took over and it was gone (credit to Jakov for a great idea).

The Super Moon

Today, November 14/2016, is the very rare event in Lunar Orbit. The Moon is in the Perigee Stage and is at its closest distance to the earth, not to be witnessed again until 2034. Combined with the moon being Full, it will be 30% brighter.
If a clear vision can be seen, this may be a once in a lifetime chance to capture our important neighbour.
If there are any in need of a quick photography instruction on how to make the most of this chance, www.photographylife.com has made the list of settings available.

Jakov,  I really also liked your reverse moon idea a couple of pages back.  :D

Here is a super moon rise.  It's an L.A. freeway scene(Frank, remember these?) with the moon rising over the mountains some 70 miles/112 kM away.  Shot through a metal screen fence that had to be installed on all the overpasses because too many people dropped large rocks and chunks of concrete onto the cars below back in the 1970's.  300/4 AF-S adapted to Fuji XE-1.  I used an older Aluminium Gitzo tripod which caused more shake than the newer, smaller CF Gitzo.

Keith, this is a fine example of how the supermoon should be shot: at the moonrise!  The "star" effect of the lights probably caused by the metal screen fence works nicely here.

Keith, that is a great capture - just the right medicine for the super moon. I really like the simplicity of rear car lights, front lights and the moon light, all balanced very well.

That is is stunning shot Keith. As Akira said it, you shot the way it's supposed to be shot, low on the horizon.

I shot this Saturday. I tried to get an interesting roof top into the frame but the moon was too low. Shot at 200mm (Fuji X) and cropped.
Unfortunately it was cloudy yesterday at the time of supermoon rise.
