Then there was light: Aliens landing in the Grampians?
« on: October 14, 2015, 19:41:03 »
During our stay in the Grampians National Park in Victoria, Australia we had some heavy rain. And then there was light. A spectacular view. Shot with D750 and 300mm F4 VR

The color versions are winner to me, too.  In addition to the beautiful shapes of the falling lights, the color contrast between the yellowish light and the blueish clouds is essential to me.

Compared with this BW ones, the color version is much stronger due to the beautiful blue/orange effect.      Agree with afx the BW version needs some contrast, to my feeling.

And perhaps a different crop with more landscape and less sky may give a stronger image.

The color does appear stronger than the B&W. That being said ... these are great. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your kind words and suggestions!
The BW versions do indeed look a bit pale here. They look stronger at my screen. I'll see if I can add another one. Although I also agree that the blue-yellow contrast adds something compared to BW.

This is another BW version with less sky and more trees. However, this makes the house visible. Obviously I could have shopped it out but I did not in this version.

That latest version is too harsh for me, particularly the clouds.

The color adds so much 'richness' to the image that one just wants to sit back and drink it all in.

I agree. The blue-yellow contrast helps. I prefer these too.
