Thank you for the kind comments
I'm feeling like a kid in a candy store, I have tried and failed many times to get street shots that I like, I can not explain clearly why I'm liking better the results now that I had in the past, whatever it is I hope it lasts, getting street shots is currently what is keeping me entertained.
Extremely well captured candid shot. Needless to say how good is pp. Much to learn from you!
Anirban,
Something I did different this time was to increase the shutter speed to 1/500, my shots were way to slow and often I got blurry people, the exposure was 1/500 f1.8 auto ISO (125) matrix metering and I have my camera set to overexpose by 2/3
My process is simple, I'll adjust exposure to recover highlights, increase contrast, convert to b&w increase orange and reduce blues, add dehaze, review blacks and shadows, and iterate over this steps
Here is what I did to the raw file in LR:
1 Basic: Exposure +.7 contrast +45 highlights -57 shadows -12 clarity +50
2 HSL red saturation -15
3 effects dehaze +17
4 b&w red -22 orange +35 yellow -23 green -27 aqua -18 blue -64 purple +16 magenta 0
I have set the import to automatically apply:
Detail amount 75 radius .5 detail 75 masking 50
Noise reduction luminance 10 detail 100 contrast 100 color noise reduction at default
Camera calibration process 2012 profile camera neutral
and of course other times I may take the image into PS and will go into many more steps , or not, it depends
for comparison, here is how the image looks in color after the import , using the same crop
