Meet A and G. Two of the 4 photographers (including me) doing investigation in "estancias coreográficas" this year. Today we had a light rehearsal on stage, no props, no lights, no costumes...horrible lighting. That´s probably why we were a little bored

Speaking of film, now this is how you did it in style back in the old days .... Large-format view camera, tripod, and patience.  Including metering with a hand-held Sekonic spot/incident light  meter.

The Citroën DS-19/21 were quite popular in their heydays in my part of the world.

I still occasionally use my Sekonic spot/incident light  meter.

When the in camera (jpg) histogram shows both high and low end data loss use of the spot meter can help in locating where the problem areas are and in forming a good estimate of how much data can be recovered from the raw file in postprocess.

With an unfamiliar lighting setup using speedlights or strobes use of the flash meter function can save time and/or fuss in getting the wanted result.

  Well, he looks like a bear of photographer, birds will know 

   I'm glad however to have come to the photo world in the digital age. It has been way easier to get to know the basics and manage the data.

Hi Paco, sorry if I missed this in previous discussions.
Were you not doing much photography before digital started?

If not, it feels like your creative juices must have been building up nicely in the background as most of the photography I've seen you do pleases my eye or my ingenuity on how you've achieved the results

You're not giving us any timeline here Birna but maybe this was the 1980's?

Having enjoyed using 35mm B&W film from the late 70's I started a quest for higher quality once I started earning enough to buy better kit.
That and seeing the results people got with larger formats
I bought a used Pentax 6x7 plus a big (for me) Benbo tripod and Sekonic light meter (it was fun playing with using Incident Light readings)

It was about this time that my wife stopped bothering to wait for me to get set up & take shots when we went out on long walks....
...I finally decided the increase in quality wasn't always enough to justify the effort required, when I took this setup and several 6x7 lenses up Mount Snowdon

Snowdon may not be much of a mountain in European terms, but I was struggling to catch my breath, especially when trying to catch up with my wife!!

Mid '90s, Colin. Using a lot of 120 format film or 4x5" sheet film back then.

  I started my photography journey already in the digital domain with a point and shoot in 2004. I bought it for a trip to India. After that I got a D200 in 2005. Long story short, I did take many, many pictures, eager to learn,  and had the good luck of finding Birna's website (it inspired me from day one) and Nikongear as well. I have learn a lot here! I was involved in visual media like drawing, painting, comic books and cine from my teenage years and dance, of course.
