Thanks for the enthusiastic eclipse photography comments all of you. It was quite enjoyable; one learns to put on enough clothes for occasions like this, but I am glad it was -20°C and not -32°C as the night before and after the eclipse. As the tripod was busy my D5100 had to suffer to just be dug into the snow of the trail until it felt stable, and then used delayed or self timer release without remote. The coldest part is to break down the equipment after 2+ hours of loosing heat without moving too much around.

It was an awful day for photography - cold, dull and snowing heavily! I might post a couple in a more appropriate forum. Here are some photographers who were better prepared than us...
