Irish, as born in the country named Ireland. Not born in that part of the United Kingdom named Northern Ireland.

In this context, the term "Republican" has been appropriated and misused by illegal violent organisations.

Sorry, no harm intended. For me the "Republic of Ireland" is a member of the European Union and a country I really like. On the other hand I have two female friends both born near Belfast whose mother toungue is Gaelic...

Of course, Frank. Just be careful, anywhere on the island of Ireland, in using the term "Republican". You may get a reaction you did not expect - and will almost certainly be misunderstood.
