Hi,

are you planning to use nikongear.com as some sort of portal in the future? If that's not the case, I'd like to see an automatic redirect from nikongear.com to nikongear.com/revival so that users don't have to click that link first.

Of course, that's not a really big issue but it's also not a big issue to set up the web server to do that for the users ;)

Although we *were* promised ownership of nikongear.com, the existing owner choose to ignore that written promise and instead renewed the domain name for himself. Go figure.

Thus, the only redirection possible is nikongear.net => nikongear.net/revival and that has been effective for all the time of the new site.

You said there is a written agreement effective.
You are out there. You and your camera. You can shoot or not shoot as you please. Discover the world, Your world. Show it to us. Or we might never see it.

Effective only if agreements are not violated.

Our URL nikongear.net works well enough. Perhaps it signals better the purpose namely building an interactive and functional network of photographers, and not aiming at commercial interests and profit.

How - enforce at gun point? A hopeless case when one of the parties don't respect their own agreements.

No use in this case, I assume.

I did notice btw that http://nikongear.net/ is no longer being automatically redirected to http://nikongear.net/revival/, one has to click on the link presented on the banner site.

This is something we can fix as we did it before, curious what change disabled the fix though.
Cheers,
Jan Anne

Perhaps something Andrea will fix easily. I have a hunch why this happened, but will not intervene as my knowledge of web server configuration is far inferior to hers.

Use a permalink or bookmark in the browser and save a click or two.

I just set it up again and it apparently works from my location.

You might have to refresh the browser window once or twice if the redirect isn't immediately active.

Test by enter http://nikongear.net into a browser address bar. You should immediately be landing on nikongear.net/revival

I bookmarked the page called

"Post since last visit"

to see if something pops up that might catch my interest.

why not grab nikongear.org as well.. if you reinvest in the site you are not-for-profit anyway..

my feeling is .net and .org have more "class" than .com

but what do i know.
