Be gentle when doing post processing of files from the fast lenses such as 50mm 1.2, 55mm 1.2 and Noct-Nikkor


If you use the 'sliders' too much or too aggressive in processing then the result will very quickly be harsh and rough looking,,,


My recommendation is to choose such lenses only if you would like an image with soft rendering, don't try to force sharpness into the image or you will end up with bad bokeh and a strange look of the file,,,


Instead of bumping up clearity, contrast and or sharpness, try with zero compensation or even pulling down these, maybe add colour or vibrance saturation only instead.


And as a final touch add selective sharpening only on the areas where the focal plane is!

Finally got my first rangefinder camera, trading Sony A7II, D200 and several lenses.
I'm getting about 30% in focus and the rest is a mess. Really hard in low light and not seeing what you expect as with DSLR. Add in lens that rotate the other way to Nikon, is f1.2 and aperture ring also rotating wrong way and the learning curve is very steep...

The dedicated astronomical telescopes don't have or need lens "barrels", because they are used at night with no stray light.

Then, I realized that the focal lengths of the ubiquitous closeup lenses are in the range of popular long lenses.  My Kenko Pro1D AC closeup lens No.2 is an achromatic 500mm lens.

So, why not trying to hold the lens around 500mm away from my trusty D750 without my beloved AF-S 50/1.8G to shoot the full moon?

It was so difficult not only to hold the lens and the camera correctly but also to hold my breath during the proceduere.  I tried twenty-some shots and had to stop before I would suffocate. 

Even though this is the "best moon shot" I could get, I thought it deserved being posted here.

It's not too hard to get an unsharp photo with the D90 and the 50mm f/1.8D wide open.
