Brea Jazz Festival 2013 - Mongorama
« on: August 29, 2015, 17:55:38 »
Every year the City of Brea, California barricades off a downtown street to vehicular traffic and brings in a stage and seating for an annual free concert.

Yes, Gary, you are friends with the hard edit. Not shy to loose details to expression at all. I am a real pussy when it comes to that.

For me your hardness works pretty well on the last two (sax player in colour and trumpet blower) also the singing lady #3 is really fitting well into the concept.

For me the loss of detail or the additional harshness in the faces do not make me happy.
You are out there. You and your camera. You can shoot or not shoot as you please. Discover the world, Your world. Show it to us. Or we might never see it.

Gary - I really like these. The edit, as Frank says, suits the subject well - expressive as I would imagine the music was.

A side note - I have a chance to get my hands on the Fuji 60mm Macro (I assume that's the one you've used in #1) at a good price. It looks like a quite nice lens.
I had the 55-200 - a great lens imo., but the copy I had was flawed .. hopefully I'll get my hands on a good copy sooner or later.

The posterisation point is easily reached with the RAF. That is one of the challenges with the Fujis.

Great series. And I love your processing, though it is milder than your BW film.

cheers

Three out of four is pretty good for me,  ;).

All of Fuji's FX lenses are wonderful. They compare well to my 'L' lenses.

The first one is my favorite as a picture. The bass player.

I beg you to try another edit on this icon. Colour?

Great series.  Up close and tight- I love the compositions.  You captured the moments perfectly.
