On a trip to Sweden (Pulken) I got this nice Red Kite (Milvus milvus).
Z8 Z100-400 f4.5-5.6 plus 1.4 converter @560mm f8.0

Very nice, Bent!  I'm still learning to handle my Z100-400 + Z7 combo. It's a great lens, but a shot like yours would probably be a bit of a challenge with my skills and the AF in the Z7. However, works well for birds resting .. like this shot from yesterday of a kestrel looking out of a nest box where they have chicks. Shot @300mm f5.6.

Yes the AF system is better on the Z8, but you have nailed the focus on the bird, in spite of all the branches between you and the bird.

Apparently there still is no spring in sight?

It was snowing heavily this morning. As demonstrated by this snapshot of daffodils taken with the 55/1.2 Nikkor-O on my Z fc.
