USB charging. One size fits all
« on: September 21, 2025, 16:08:22 »
I would like to introduce you to what I consider to be a rather smart system for charging USB devices. It's called “Vafoton” and consists of different USB plugs (micro, lightning, C) and a universal charging cable. The plugs remain in the device and connect to the magnetic charging cable. This means that the USB port on the device is not stressed by being plugged in and out every time, and the plug remaining in the device also protects the port from dirt. So, only one cable remains in the power adapter or computer with USB-C charging capability, which charges a wide variety of devices with a simple magnetic click.
With my Nikon Z cameras, the tether connection to the computer also works without any problems; in my opinion, it is even more reliable than with a standard cable. I punched a small hole in the rubber cover of the connections on the cameras so that the plug can remain in the socket. The slightly protruding plug doesn't bother me, but that's a matter of taste.
