Zebras in Hwange, Nikkor 300mm ED-IF and D300
« on: September 15, 2025, 04:14:37 »
I was looking through some boxes and found my old Nikkor 300mm f4.5 ED-IF manual focus lens. It used to be my go-to long lens before I got a 70-300 AF-P, but I haven't used it in several years at least. This is from a trip to Zimbabwe way back in 2008. We gathered for a family reunion in South Africa, then went to Zim and spent 10 days traveling to Kariba, Vic Falls and finally Hwange National Park, which we had largely to ourselves.
Lotsa Nikon gear.
Lotsa Minolta gear.

I loved your Zebras photograph. Those are shy creatures, and quite hard to photograph, so you did very well to capture these two.

Thanks, everyone. Those zebras seemed to be posing, and they made me think of mohawk-haired punks. The 300mm ED-IF is still a fantastic optic, even on the newer high-res bodies.
