Probably something like:

Photoshop > Filter > Stylize > Emboss

Plus any steps required afterwards

You see the photo I took in Puebla de Mula the other day, with that light, it was getting dark and the mantis was clinging to the tip of the fennel as if it wanted to jump to the moon.
