Meatyard got attention in USA photographic circles (magazines, bookstores, galleries , schools, and museums) in the late 1970's and early 1980's through a posthumous book that apparently was the first in a series of books.  Once one has read his last name (Meat + Yard seems strange, maybe gruesome) and then see the photos, especially the children in masks, it makes an impression!
