The meaning of "DOF".

There is just a single plane of focus and everything else is an illusion of rendered details. The object is a rear lens cap, of yellow colour. Thus the crescent shape of the background is for real.

Why do I think this is interesting?

The Aldi family is impoverished and needs money.

By my grandson, made at school.
In case of shipwreck, no problem, corks float.

Your studies and meditations on photography are very good, sometimes your work is magical.

Nice effort from your grandson.  :)

I worry about the corks however;  is the captain of the ship a heavy drinker?  ???

NikonGear is a bad influence. Why else would I be trying to use an enlarging lens on a short focusing helicoid to take a portrait?

We feel your pain :)

On the other side, why not? The focusing likely is very slow, like in the older days, and that might, just might, make taking the photo more enjoyable??

Besides, enlarger lenses tend to be quite affordable items.
