Received my IR-converted Panasonic GF1 yesterday. Looks nice and as shown below, it can use the EL-Nikkor 50mm f/.8 enlarger lens with focus from near 1:1 to infinity. Plus a plethora of other odd lenses of course.

Already tested that the EL-Nikkor 50/2.8 has no IR hotspot.

How much can one of those creatures cost with IR conversion?

I paid 150 GP for the camera + conversion with internal 720nm filter. The seller did a good job as far as I can ascertain. The camera was hardly used and looks like new. Quick delivery across the North Sea as well :)

Spring has arrived at the local wetlands. A luxuriant stand of Yellow Flag Iris pseudacorus is rendered vere bright in IR. The invasive floating liverwort Ricciocarpos natans already blankets open water areas - it's invasive dispersal over the last years has been staggering in my region.

Panasonic 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH on IR-modified GF1. Apparently this native lens has no objectionable IR hot spot.

Obviously you have used the camera today. And you created an image with an apocalyptic touch.

Why do I think this is interesting?

Because

a) ALDI did not advertize at all for decades

b) ALDI sends a kind of "sociopolitical message" here stating they care for all which means they care for the poor

c) they do not go for an official billboard here but book a semilegal service to gain "street credibility"

d) Albert-Heijn-aesthetics copied

all very unusual
