When I played with model trains, some...(!) years ago, it was customary to "dirty" the wagons with similar techniques; they became more realistic and less plasticky.
Instead, I like cameras and lenses always like new...  :)
However you did a very good job in this weird kind of fashion.

In the world of electric guitars and basses, the so-called "relic" treatment has been in fashion for quite a while.

I would use pristine ones to be a poseur.   :o :o :o
