This thread is inspired by Øivind Tøiens brilliant images from the Iditarod race a few days ago.
These images are from the last years long distance dog sled race (650 km), Femundløpet in February 2024. The race starts and ends in the historic part of the small old mining town, Røros (among Norways most beautyful, at least best preserved towns, I think). I did unfortunately not have the chance to see the Femundløpet this year.
It was really good winter conditions, -30 degrees Celsius in the morning, which adds an extra challenge to the photography. You must of course wear gloves, thin enough to operate the camera, put have to put on thicker mittens after a few minutes to keep the fingers warm.
I used a Z8 with Z 24-120 f/4 S and a Z6II with a Z 70-200 f/2.8 for flexibility to follow the action. Ideally, in this situation wish I had two similar cameras, an e additional Z8 or maybe a Z9, but the Z6II managed the action situations pretty well, and as I am not at all professional, it would be overkill
