Alaska Native Dance Performance
« on: March 02, 2025, 00:54:24 »

We were treated to an Alaska native dance performance at the Anchorage Museum during a health research related conference this week. The involvement of all ages from the elders to the very young is essential for the traditions to be transmitted to new generations. Research on Alaskan Native health is important and performed with respect and involvement of traditional knowledge and under participant societies local control. The museum houses a really nice overview of the fantastic diversity of the different Alaska native cultures and also other arctic indigenous cultures well worth visiting - I wish I had more time to take it all in.
