The Kerria  with  D5 28/1.4E a few days ago  compared now with the D850 35/1.4G
The bokeh is more 'creative' with the 35G  ;)

Lovely John
Whilst i have no firm loyalty to either setup, my eye finds the second image more pleasing
I prefer the bokeh of the 2nd image. What aperture did you shoot them each at ?
(e.g.,was the 28 stopped down?)

Thanks Colin.

Both lenses were shot wide open, at f/1.4.  Both at their minimum focus distance.
The top one is with the 28/1.4E
The bottom one, with the blue sky with the 35/1.4G

John, that 35/1.4G a lovely lens has been a favourite of mine, despite the bad rap its been getting!

Thanks Fons.  I can see it's your favourite.  The rendering is great, much sharper and more usable than the AIS version. the G creates very pleasable images.

The 28E is somehow too sharp, too clinical. A bit like the  mirrorless looks.  It's more useable for architecture and technical shots.

Pretty or otherwise, the results mean the effort was worth it Daniel
Dreamy, with a pleasing, natural bokeh
Many thanks Colin, the Zf invites to experiment.

Dogs no longer are allowed to enter the Botanical Garden, Oslo.... My work place, the Botanical Museum, is the building in the background.

Taken with the petite Laowa 7.5mm f/2 on a Panasonic GF-1. The lens actually is a great performer so a pity it doesn't communicate with the camera.

Interesting Birna.
So you're suggesging that the field is flat and the lumps are just vegetation?
I will have to test that and report back :)

Some kind of animal did this, I have seen it here too without the vegetation 8)

Moles can contribute towards the same. In high arctic regions, frost upheaval and concurrent sorting can make similar structures ---or polygons, depending on the earth material.

Campion Photo, founded in Brussels in 1936, is closing its doors after almost 90 years in business. I was taking a last look at their collection of old Nikkors and spare parts when the owner said to me: ‘I'm going to show you a lens that you'll probably never see anywhere else.' He went into the back room and came back with a large wooden box: I found it in a cupboard, forgotten by everyone.

Very good, Daniel! Your reflection adds to the forlorn feeling of being outside and looking in.
