I really like these Lars.
I saw plenty of jellyfish off the coast of Wales in the summer.
But they were less vivid and i couldn't get close to them.
Its fascinating to watch them pulse and move s.owly about
Many thanks, Colin!
I agree, they are very fascinating - the images was taken from a bathing bridge where 5 people in swim suits tried to find an area to swim, but there were many red ones drifting in the current and they have a very unpleasant sting.
As for the vivid colors - my images are a bit saturated. The images was taken close to dusk in a shadow area under the bridge with a dark green background - and the jellyfish are somewhat translucent. It was a bit difficult to post process the images to a more natural look, so I accepted a slightly "impressionistic" look
I've posted two images taken in better light in shallow water with sandy bottom - the light sand probably gives a more natural look due to their translucency.
I've read that the Lion’s Mane jellyfish, that also lives in scandinavian waters, can reach a length of 30 meters and a bell diameter over 2 mtrs. - that's longer than a blue whale.
