Now we're talking :)
I would have probably pumped up the shadows a bit, but that's just a matter of taste.

Some prefer nettles.  :D

The problem of digital photography is that even a night shot can be rendered like a day shot.  In this image, I wanted to emphasize the unlikely bright sky at this time of day (night) in the latitude of Tokyo, as well as its weird color.  So, I thought I needed to leave the foreground dark.  The house on the left corner and on the right-hand side was lit too bright, so I darkened both portions.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, Jakov!

Akira, I really like this one, I feel there is a story behind each light.  :)

Well this is a nice look and atmosphere this way. I like the colors. The darkened houses on the left and right are a bit out of order now, to my feeling.

Very cool panorama shot, I like it a lot. Sorry that I don't have anything more insightful to say, I just like really like it.

Very nice, Arika, it is all about the (crazy!) colors in the sky indeed. Why are they so different from one place to another one?

It makes me think of a film-set, perhaps in one of those near-future science-fiction movies. And as Mike said "there are a thousand stories in the city . . . "

Mike, thanks!  Yes, there are indeed lots of stories there...

John, thanks for your comment.  The darkened houses had stood out way too much before I darkened them.  And in this particular image, I thought they enhance the surreal atmosphere.

Suse, thanks for stopping by.  Glad you like it!

Bob, indeed the sky was the very source of the inspiration of the image.

Olivier, thanks.  I think the reddish light in the central area was reflection from some bayside event.  In the midnight, the reddish color disappeared.

Dave, I post another version to facebook, and one of my friend made the same comment.  It surely looks surreal.
