I am Juergen, freelance Photographer from southwest Germany.
my personal Nikon history started almost 50 years ago with a Nikkormat FT2. Next step up was a Nikon F2. Back in analog times most of my professional stuff was done with middle format Mamiya RZ or Sinar 4x5“, so Trusty F2, together with some siblings (one for Polaroid tests), accompanied me until into the new millenium. No AF, no exposure automatic, no zoom lenses, heavy Gitzo; as old-fashioned as you could get.
Year 2000 came and so the Nikon D1, followed by a D200. Full format D700 was a revelation: old MF Nikkors were useable again and as a result I built up a collection of used MF Nikkors from 15 to 500mm, strictly following the ratings on Birna’s naturfotograf site.
After the D800 I thought this camera together with D700 would stay with me as a kind of „last equipment“.
For me the Z cameras were almost a step as big as the transfer from F2 to D1. Bright viewfinder, 100% view with MF lenses, no hassle with high ISO. First Z was a Z6, then lovely Zfc and last but not at all least the Zf. With the Zf I almost get that Nikkormat feeling again…
I have been reading along on NikonGear site for some time, and so I decided to become NG supporter since I was very impressed by the friendly tone and manners of the members.
