This place is turning into kitchengoodies.net  :) :) I'm envious that you have knowledge on tap to differentiate between good' un and bad'un funghi. So many wasted opportunities here.  :-\

Ruth is a certified fungi identifier.

If she is not collecting fungi, she picks wild berries in copious amounts, We fill the freezers for the winter :)

Doubly envy requires double berries :)

First, Vaccinium vitis-idea ('cowberry') has a slightly tart taste, but will keep for many months after collection. We mix it with sweeteners into juice or jams.  Perfect for veal or deer meat. Very traditional Norwegian cousine.

Second, Vaccinium myrtillus ('hill berry', but called 'blueberries' in Norwegian), has a quite sweet taste on its own. Teeming with anti-oxidants too. Perfect for jams, juice, or dessert. We fill the freezers every autumn.

Both are extremely common and abundant and can be collected just outside our dwelling.
