I availed myself of the opportunity to search for my Noct Nikkors 58/1.2 and eventually managed to locate one of them. The other is gone AWOL.

The fastest way to find something is to buy another  :o

In general. I'd agree. Just experienced that phenomenon yesterday when my reserve charger for my travel laptop had vanished into thin air. I ordered a replacement and then, a few hours later,  the 'thin air' solidified  and the missing charger manifested itself again. Not a big deal in terms of money, unlike purchasing a third Noct-Nikkor to relocate the second one. Plus, it might well be stolen by a 'friend' who turned out not to be a friend. He used it and other things disappeared at that time as well.
