I bought my first lens in 16 months when I saw a refurbished 85mm f/1.2 S last month from Nikon USA for $600 less than list price. I jumped on it and was not disappointed until all the Plena frenzy began and generated some perhaps unwarranted buyer's remorse on my part days after I had received my 85mm. Anyway, Nikon said (that is Mark Cruz from Nikon said on you tube) that the 85 could generate bokeh without cat's eyes if you shot at f/2 so that's what this photo experiment yesterday has attempted to do. Draw your own conclusions. I have posted a few photos here over the past two weeks mostly wide open with this lens and am learning what it can do, and what I can do with it. So far I have not been disappointed. Nice lens. Better or worse than the Plena? I can't say but this is very special lens too. This shot is with the Z9 on a cloudy day in a parking lot. I might add that I rarely care much for circular bokeh except on special occasions. Too often it seems like unneeded clutter.  :o

Enjoy!
All I can say is, Z9 plus f1.2 = fun times, especially as daylight hours drop and you get to experiment with indoor/evening events.

Items on the kitchen counter beside the cooktop.

Done with a plague-filled and balky D3 and 24-85VR lens and massively cropped.
