Rumour site are notorious as sources of false hopes :(

That being said, if Nikon comes up with a Df equivalent in the Z line, I'm on it at once.

The near future will tell the truth. So patience, patience. We Df users are accustomed to that ....

there's already been quite a bit of discussion on this elsewhere. I must say, I'm intrigued and it may well be we'll know something by the end of the week. I don't believe for a moment that the rumours will come to absolutely nothing -- that site has a fairly good track record. As a proud Df owner, it'll be interesting to see if the new camera has any compelling hardware advances to justifying upgrading my Z6 (mark 1). I won't buy it if it's just a retro Z6/7ii but it doesn't need to have the performance level of the Z8/9 either.

As per the rumor site, it is described as a retro-style full frame with a 45mpx and improved autofocus compared to the Z6/7II and to be announced pretty soon. We shall see soon....

there's a new rumour post now which suggests that -- perhaps not unexpectedly -- a 45mp camera for around $2000 is looking increasingly unlikely and there is no confirmation of an imminent announcement.  If the price is to be as stated, it probably will just be a slightly warmed up retro styled Z6ii. Which won't be getting any money from me.

As dko22 mentions, the hit-rate of the info on the site has been quite high.  That's why I decided to mention this rumor.

And yes, the announcement is, if ever, scheduled today (it is already the 2nd here in Tokyo), let's see the result!

Ideally, a Z version of the Nikon Df or FX version of the Zfc should be released with an AI version of the FTZ adaptor - that would permit much better compatibility with older lenses. But I don't have high hopes that this will happen..

Apparently now NR think announcement may be later in August or September and may be 24 MP and with dual slots.

I think 24 MP is a lot more realistic than 45 MP at the $2k price point suggested.

For me 24 MP suits fine and I like the sensor in the Z6 II a lot. Very good across a broad range of ISOs.

Thanks for the update.  Indeed, a modified Z5 would make more sense.

as I said, a prettier version of the Z6ii is no use to someone like me who already has a Z6. It's no significant upgrade and I can't imagine many in my position going for it. For someone yet to venture into the wonderful Z world, it might well be  compelling option. If the latest rumour post is indeed correct, then I'll be waiting for a Z6iii next year or whatever.

Well, there is almost no infomation on features and the different sources say different things about the Zf so it makes sense to make decisions after the product has been officially announced rather than assume something based on wildly speculative rumors. I would assume there are improvements to features and probably use of Expeed 7. But this is just me speculating. The Z fc had some improvements over the Z50.

that's quite correct. I was merely saying if there are no major (I mean major -- there are bound to be some changes like perhaps a new processor) advances over the Z6ii, then I'm not interested. Of course we don't yet know anything for sure. We don't even know for sure that there will be a Zf, though I'm inclined to trust Nikon Rumors that far.

Now there is something new:

https://nikonrumors.com/2023/08/02/nikon-z-f-camera-was-listed-earlier-today-on-nikon-direct-japan-website.aspx/#more-183915

So it appears as release date was planned for today and plans were cancelled, but I guess we will see a Zf presentation later in this year
