My new Laowa 9mm f/5.6 is an optic for the city :) My dealer had it on summer sales at a fairly low price and I couldn't resist the temptation. My bad.

Z fc, Laowa 9mm f/5.6 -- the lens is almost impossibly wide on the FX Nikons. 135 (!) degrees.

Congrats Birna - this will allow interesting perspectives

The bad inclement weather has it perks, though. Mushrooms pop up everywhere and Ruth collected the catch below in a 30 minute walk. She didn't manage to go more than a few hundred meters before her collecting basket was overflowing.

We spent the evening processing and frying all the tasty stuff.

  Tasty!  Congratulations and bon appetit

The pink ONE.

It is not so much that I´m not shooting, the thing is, I´m not processing the images later. They sit in my computer. I hope this is a short fase.

As said before, the 135 degrees view of the Laowa 9mm f/5.6 is difficult to handle. OK, once in a while I would use the entire field of view, just to show how enormous it is. I think it will be more regular for me at least to either shoot the lens on the Z fc/Z30, or put the Z9 to DX mode.

However, I just *had* to investigate whether the 9mm could do IR. There is no filter thread in front thanks to the bulbous front element, but room for a rear slim filter mounted in an ad-hoc fashion. I searched for, and found, some IR gel filters that I cut to size, for a first try.

It works (full-spectrum Z5). No hot spot, which is unusual for new optical designs on the mirrorless systems. The field of view is of course unmanageably wide. Sharpness is surprisingly good even in IR, however some smearing to the corners is caused by astigmatism.

Still we are having the option of a quick trip outside our house to collect fruits for dessert ... here blueberries (to Nordic people), bilberries to English speakers. Very tasty and free of charge, of course. Just invest a few minutes of one's spare time :)
