Closest Nikon to Ricoh GR3x ?
« on: July 09, 2023, 21:56:10 »
Pocketable, crop-sensor, fun shooting! 40mm equivalent focal length. I’m having fun with the little Ricoh in New York City, especially with Snap focus (fixed focus distance).

Maybe a Z30 with a little lens will tick most of your boxes?

Probably with 28/2.8 as lens (26/2.8 seems to have too many compromises and is expensive).
I would consider the 16-50 DX zoom which will give more flexibility and it has VR and is very sharp.
The new 24/1.7 DX lens could also be and option (36mm equ).

I had a Coolpix A that was nice to use.  It was a 28mm equivalent though.  I sold it when it got a nasty dust speck on the sensor - one of the downsides of the fixed lens...

You may want to looking into something like the Nikon, J5. With the 10mm prime it is a 27mm mounting to a camera body, quite similar size to a pack of smokes.

I saw one go for $222 last evening and it included the 10-30 pd zoom and the 10mm prime. Underrated, discontinued, defunct system. The one inch sensor is used in a lot of high end, more expensive point & shoot cams by canon and sony.

A full J5 kit, with FL equivalent to 18mm to 300mm fits easily in a fanny pack.

I was thinking the same, but would consider a Z50, too, as it's not all that much bigger and has the added advantage of handling like a "real camera". The evf when doing "street video" ain't too shabby either, so I've been told.

I took a test run with the Zfc but I couldn't get a good grip. Ofc the Ricoh is smaller so that logic might not make much sense, but the Ricoh has a little grip bump where the Zfc was flat.
