In January and February, I went back to some of the national parks in the West to see winter there. At Yellowstone, I stopped one very frosty morning along the road out to the Roosevelt Corrals. A herd of bison was snuffling through the snow some distance away. I got out of the van and walked up a slope for a better view. One bison saw me and slowly made its way straight for me. I wasn't sure if I had somehow offended it, but as the distance closed, I retreated to the van and drove on. A horizontal of this image is the cover of my calendar this year.
